After I left Alice late Sunday arvo I stopped at the first free camp spot as I was tired and free was better than paying $40 in Alice Springs. After a kip for a minute in the back of the van I got up to chat to the other free campers. I ended up sitting around a camp fire with a man and his son travelling in a 4WD and about to head off to the Tanami Desert and 2 girls (sisters Marina and Pascale) from Switzerland who were travelling in a Wickedvan up to Darwin. We had a great time with many discussions from bunyips to politics. I slept really well inspite of the road trains roaring past metres away.
